The Browser Company of NYC is now part of Atlassian

Today Josh Miller and Hursh sent out an email with the heading “Your Tuesday in 2030.” The biggest change inside was that The Browser Company is getting acquired by Atlassian.

Atlassian, is the company behind Jira (and a lot of other tools you’ve probably use at work). In the email, they explained that the reason behind the acquisition is: with Atlassian’s support, they can bring Dia to more people and turn it into one of the best AI browsers out there.

Like Josh said back at the beginning of The Browser Company: “the browser is the new OS.” .

So what exactly does it mean that this independent startup from New York City is now part of Atlassian? In the Email they said they’ll have more money, more resources, and the ability to build faster than before. In their email, they also promised to share a long-term plan soon for Arc and Arc Search.

And honestly, that gives me a bit of hope. Maybe that means we’ll see Arc make a comeback. With Atlassian’s backing, it might finally have the chance to grow into the browser it was meant to be.

See you next time :)
